Assignment Title: A Right to Know
What I learned: In this assignment I found an interesting and popular topic to write a journal article for a popular magazine. I learned to write the paper in an article format with simple language and correctly quoting my sources. To get the most information possible out of the sources that I interviewed for the paper I had open ended questions and made sure to clarify any questions I had on their answers.
Reflection to assignment: In this assignment I enjoyed the freedom to choose a popular topic that I was interested in. It was interesting to get into the minds of others and view their ideas on the subject. About a week after I wrote the paper on Genetically Modified Food being labeling it was passed to be on the ballet in Fall 2012. Each person I interviewed was very passionate about labeling coming into affect.
Relevance to profession: Being part of the media is very important for community nutritionist. Especially since so much of the media is false nutrition advice or information. In my opinion the media needs to tone down the false nutrition information and leave it up to nutrition professionals in the media to convey information.
